It's finally here, the moment we've all been waiting for, Ohio State's first game of the season and their home opener against Bowling Green.
Nothing like an instate rivalry, a one sided rivalry, but a rivalry none the less, to start off the season.
As everyone expected Ohio State beat the breaks off of Bowling Green for four straight quarters. The ending score being 77-10. . . . real nail bitter here.
Q1: To start off the game, Barrett started the game off in a disappointing manner, by throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown in the midst of a promising drive. But immediately made up for it in the next drive throwing a 47 yard touchdown pass to K.J Hill, being Ohio State's first touchdown of the year. Two possessions later, Ohio State would drive down yet again and score from 25 yards out with a pass from Barrett to Wilson. After Ohio State's defense forces a 3-0 OSU got the ball back their own 27 yard line. After a penalty and a short run OSU threw a 79 yard touchdown to Samuel. Ending the first quarter 21-7 and Bowling Green had the ball.
Q2: After BG forces OSU to punt to start off the quarter, BG would drive down to OSUs 14 yard line and kick a 32 yard field goal. On the very next drive, OSU would lead a drive down to BGs 25 yard line and from there Barrett would throw a 25 yard touchdown to Brown. Following that, BG gave the ball right back and OSU would score yet again, after Barrett making a rushing touchdown making the score 35-10 going into halftime.
To break down the second half, BG would not score again, but that didn’t keep Ohio State from scoring. OSU put up 42 points in the second half. This gave the starts some time to rest while the backups got some time on the field. We got to see some promising freshman show what they have to offer too the team.
Not a very interesting game to start off the season but it doesn’t take away from the fact that we started off the season with a win.
Next week it’s OSU vs. Tulsa at home.
